Nicky’s Fight
One little boy's fight against Neuroblastoma
Meet Nicky, a wonderfully sweet two year old boy. Like many others his age, he loves Thomas the Tank Engine, the movie Cars, pancakes, and his two doggies, Sammie and Max.
Nicky is loved dearly by his Mom and Dad, Uncles Ty and Cal, Auntie Jade, and his many cousins and extended family.
Unfortunately, Nicky has neuroblastoma, a form of cancer.
Neuroblastoma is a malignant cancer that forms in the adrenal gland, neck, chest, or spinal cord in children under the age of 5. Doctors are extremely hopeful that Nicky’s cancer is treatable and curable.
Nicky was admitted to Hasbro Children's Hospital and was diagnosed on April 21, 2009. Over the next 43 days, Nicky went through at least 6 surgeries, 2 rounds of chemo and celebrated his second birthday. Now after his stay of 43 days at Hasbro, he has been allowed to go home for the first time on June 2, 2009. He still has quite a battle ahead of him, but that was great news!
